A. G. Nordvi the Trader
Andreas Georg Nordvi was the last trader at the trade centre in Mortensnes. Before he took over for his father he had studied Archaeology in Copenhagen. Actually he was the first person in Norway with a university degree in this subject. Nordvi carried out many excavations in the grave site at Mortensnes. Objects and skeletons from the graves were sold to scientific institutions at home and abroad.
When the trade centre went bankrupt in 1877, Nordvi moved to Oslo. He died in 1892. The main house at the trade centre in Mortensnes was moved to Vadsø after the bankruptcy. It still stands there.
